Program Description:


In this class we will take an active look at artistic and culturally engaging spaces and communities within Los Angeles, California. We will visit both famous and obscure places and discuss them through a variety of lenses and theoretical positions. We will explore Los Angeles history, how space is created through culture, ethnicity, art, individual passion and expression, religion and other customary creations and behaviors. Students will engage with various sites, experience lectures, guest speakers and utilize readings, videos and research to further analyze these spaces.

Note: Additionally there is one in person class and several online classes.
